• Performing Cicero

  This program records a series of experiments in the performance of a Ciceronian speech. The goal was less to recreate an ‘authentic’ performance than to identify some parameters of Roman oratory by considering the demands on voice, gesture, dress, and bearing that delivery under ancient conditions imposed.

• Viterbi Program in Mediterranean Jewish Studies
  College of Letters and Science: Humanities
  UCLA funded a pilot program in Italian Jewish studies in 2004 and created the Viterbi Family Endowment in Mediterranean Jewish Studies in 2008. The program looks beyond traditional political boundaries in order to understand transnational commercial and intellectual connections between different groups of people.

  There are ongoing research programs on studies of hot Quantum ChromoDynamics matter of quarks and gluons, and on searches for neutrinoless double beta decays. The neutrino program centers on the CUORE experiment at the Gran Sasso National Laboratory in Italy.

• General AntiParticle Spectrometer (GAPS)

  The General AntiParticle Spectrometer (GAPS) is a balloon-borne experiment to search for signatures of dark matter annihilations in the cosmic rays. GAPS received funding from NASA, Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) and Istituto Nazionale Di Fisica Nucleare (INFN), Italy, with the initial launch of the scientific instrument scheduled for 2020.

  One of the most exciting archaeological sites in Sicily is the ruins of Selinunte, which was a large and important Greek city. This project investigates some of the many unanswered questions concerning the site: how the city was used and how it was radically transformed at least twice.
